Mariel Vázquez Endowment Prize for Undergraduate Research

The Mariel Vázquez Endowment Prize for Undergraduate Research was established in memory of Professor Mariel Vázquez. This prize will be given to first-generation college students who are enrolled in and demonstrate exceptional achievement in undergraduate research in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. This gift embodies Mariel’s dual commitment to science and education. The Arsuaga-Vázquez Family is happy for Mariel’s legacy to live on with the recipients of this prize.

Please note: our goal is to reach the current endowment level of $50,000 by July 2031. If the endowment threshold is not met within the five-year window, existing and future contributions to the fund will be designated as current use for the same purpose.
