The purpose of the Filipinx Law Students Association is to provide its members, Filipinx-identifying or otherwise, with a common forum for expressing their needs and concerns as law students; to provide members with a mechanism for meeting their needs and adequately handling their concerns; and to address the legal needs of the Filipinx community. FLSA seeks to recruit and retain law students, encourage professional competence, foster academic success, and build a supportive community of socially and politically conscious FLSA advocates.

When you give to FLSA, you help create spaces where Filipinx law students are supported, celebrated, and empowered. Your support allows us to expand access, enhance programming, and deepen our impact through:

Student Organizations Fair

FLSA participates in the annual Student Organizations Fair to introduce new and prospective students to the Association, its mission, and activities. This event is essential for recruitment and outreach efforts, fostering a sense of community among incoming students.

Culture Week

FLSA organizes and hosts an annual Culture Week, a celebration of Filipinx heritage and culture at King Hall. This event is intended to educate the broader law school community about Filipinx culture and issues while promoting cultural pride and awareness among members, inviting speakers like local judges, attorneys, and alumni.

FLSAGiving

FLSA hosts an annual FLSAGiving event, a gathering for members to celebrate gratitude, community, and the spirit of giving. This event serves to strengthen bonds among members and provide a supportive space for reflection and connection.

Mentorship Program

FLSA facilitates the Big/Little Pairings Program, designed to mentor and support new members by pairing them with upper-year students. This program aims to foster mentorship, provide academic and social support, and ensure the retention and success of new members.

Give Day

Give Day is a fundraising event organized by FLSA to support the organization’s initiatives, scholarships, and community outreach programs. The event encourages donations from alumni, members, and supporters of FLSA, highlighting the impact of their contributions on the Filipinx legal community.

Filgrad

Filgrad is an annual graduation ceremony organized by FLSA to celebrate the achievements of graduating Filipinx law students. The event honors their journey through law school, acknowledges their contributions to the community, and provides an opportunity for friends, family, and mentors to participate in their success.

Social and Networking Events

FLSA hosts several social gatherings independently and in collaboration with student organizations and bar associations within and beyond King Hall to promote camaraderie, relaxation, and social interaction among members. These events are intended to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, allowing members to unwind and connect outside of academic settings while building a professional network.
